Meet Shayla

I grew up in the hair business and knew from a young age this was exactly what I wanted to do. More than 30+ years later, I still love it. I was lucky enough to learn from my mom, and together we opened Strands in 1997. In 2020, after an amazing 53-year career, she retired and I became the full owner of the salon. It was exciting, a little scary, and one of the proudest moments of my life. Thankfully, I had an incredible team beside me every step of the way.

If I had to describe myself in one word, it would be genuine. What you see is what you get. I love getting to know my clients—not just their hair goals, but who they are. Listening is one of the most important parts of what I do because no two people are the same.

I often say I specialize in you. It may sound cliché, but I truly believe great hair starts with understanding your lifestyle, your routine, and what makes you feel your best. Whether it's lived-in color, precision cutting, or creating a style that's easy to maintain, my goal is to give you hair that fits your life—not someone else's.

When I'm not behind the chair, I'm spending time with my family, supporting my amazing salon team, and continuing to learn and grow in this industry I love.
